Malls Mashroom near Hospitals
Рубрика: Property news Източник:Shopping malls and cafeterias will soon begin mushrooming right next to healthcare institutions in Bulgaria. All abandoned buildings and land plots in hospital's vicinity are about to be put out for sale, and the money will enter hospitals' budgets. This was what Health Minister Radoslav Gaydarski said in an interview with The Standart.
"Foreign legal entities will also be admitted to partake in the privatization of the Bulgarian hospitals," he said further. The new owners will be obliged to pay off the debts of the ailing Bulgarian public health institutions. However, it won't be just the university hospitals that will be put on the counter. Twnty-eight regional hospitals will change hands as well.
In the meantime, a scandal salaries shook the Bulgarian medical community. "Practitioners' wages will be cut down next year due to a 272-million-lev (1 Euro = 1.95 levs) deficit in the budget of the National Health Insurance Fund," alarmed Chair of the Bulgarian Medical Association, Dr. Andrey Kehayov. "To make both ends meet, in 2008 hospital directors will be forced to reduce the monthly payment of their personnel," he stated.
