Bulgaria's Cabinet Expects Brussels' Decision on Trakia Deal
Рубрика: General news Източник:The Cabinet will postpone their decision on the Trakia highway concession deal.
"We'll wait until the end of Brussels' investigation into the deal, concerning alleged instances of inadmissible state favour to a certain bidder," Regional Development and Public Works Minister Assen Gagauzov said for the Info Radio.
The ministers would have voted the Trakia highway concession agreement at Thursday's sitting of the Cabinet, had it not been for the European Commission Directorate-General for Energy and Transport, which announced on Sunday that it would launch an investigation into the scandalous deal.
Lawyers say that according to the EU regulation the ratification of the concession agreement is suspended until the end of the investigation.
"We won't play big with Brussels and we will wait for the results of the investigation," Minister Gagauzov said.
"If Brussels finds out that there have been instances of inadmissible state favour to a certain candidate in the deal, although I am sure that there has not been such a leg-up, we will have to revise the agreement. If the concessionaire does not agree to the new conditions, we'll have to look for another option," the Minister Gagauzov added
